Make Your Valentine Feel Special

The history of Valentine’s Day and the story of its Patron Saint St. Valentine, who died February 14, 269 AD, dates back to the 3rd century. The essential need for Love has endured throughout the ages and February 14th is the day we celebrate romance and affection. Valentine’s Day is our adopted tradition and expectation of sharing feelings of love with those closest to us. And what better way to share our affections than with beautiful roses. The Classic Red Rose has become the signature flower for Valentine’s Day and is a timeless symbol of Love. This year Valentine’s Day falls on a Wednesday which makes it the perfect opportunity to surprise your Valentine with a bouquet delivered to their workplace. What better way to make your significant other feel special and loved!

Boost Your Mood With Flowers!

Spring has arrived and with it comes the beauty of nature that delights all of our senses.

Our fast-paced lifestyle requires much needed TLC more often than we get it.

Did you know that you can relieve stress, enhance your mood and increase your vitality with a bouquet of flowers?

A simple hand picked wild-flower bouquet or one made with fresh and long-lasting blooms from your local florist is a great way to bring the benefits of nature inside.

Fresh flowers can lift your spirits and have an immediate impact on happiness, invoking long-term positive effects.

Research at Rutgers University has shown that participants demonstrated “sincere” smiles, delight and gratitude upon receiving flowers. The recipients were also less depressed and enjoyed life more. In addition, the presence of flowers  led to increased contact with family and friends.

So open up those windows and let the fresh Spring air and sunshine inside, but don’t forget to place a lovely bouquet of Spring Flowers on the table for you and your family to enjoy and share! You just might find that you have an extra “Spring” in your step!

Bohemian Eco-Friendly Field to Vase

A new style of flower arrangement, like a new look in fashion or beauty, appears on a magazine cover with a top celebrity and pretty soon it becomes the latest in floral trends. One of this year’s popular floral trends is field-to-vase. It is not only stylish it is also eco-friendly. So as “earth month” draws to a close, it is a great time to revisit “field to vase”!

We are all familiar with buying local and seasonal produce with farm-to-table. With that same eco-friendly, health conscious mind set think the same with flowers. Buying local and seasonal flowers is a good way to go green and reduce your environmental impact. Not only is buying local better for our surroundings, it also benefits local farms and families and promotes flowers that are fresh, minimizing chemicals, and without the stress of miles of transportation.

Field to vase style is about pairing the freshest local flowers with equal parts of foliage, herbs and vegetal plants in a bohemian non-symmetrical arrangement that has movement, interest, and incredible scent. There’s a right time and a right place for most things. As peaches are best enjoyed in late summer, so too are dahlias. You enjoy better quality in the height of the season and also save money through buying what is readily available. As a leading San Diego area florist, we at Four Seasons buy multiple times every week to bring you the freshest local grown flowers and foliage for use in all styles of design, including field to vase! We think every month should be Earth Month!

Trending “Glamping” Style for the most Progressive Bride

As featured in Flowers& Magazine, there is a wedding style trending with a unique name called “glamping” (glamour + camping = glamping). The concept is pairing two very unlikely things that are not often thought of together. This intriguing and inventive trend goes beyond burlap and lace. Think total contrast where Tiffany Shores pairs seaside colors and nautical accents with the uptown cachet of sleek luxurious blooms and accessories. Or, the Ballroom meets the Great Outdoors where romantic mono-botanicals of lush hydrangea and piano garden roses are contrasted with berries, grasses, galvanized cans and garden mulch for an ultra-elegant look with a tremendous alfresco feel. The sky is the limit with “glamping”, but be careful to not mix more than two high contrast styles together, and keep them in balance with advice from your professional florist.  Order your arrangement from us today and we will deliver flowers anywhere in San Diego.

Simply said Steampunk is an inspired movement of creativity and imagination. With a backdrop of either Victorian England or America’s Wild West, modern technologies are re-imagined and realized as elaborate works of art, fashion, and mechanics.
